A Mini Mattock is used for breaking up hard or compacted soil.
Further to this, in autumn a layer of well rotted horse or cow manure should help with this by allowing the winter weather to work it’s magic, also adding earthworms to break it down further
The metal from old tools tends to be of superior quality to modern metal.
The tool stem has been crafted from a rescued potato harvester. The head is made from a donated fencing clip.
The Handle is in Our Wood and Coloured Resin Range and contains a fabulously patterned piece of Prunus (Cherry) that has harboured some insect larve (that weakened and killed it!) The Resin is Amber in Colour which we found compliments it well.
