Our Chopping Boards are completely recycled and ecological. We are currently using wood that we found lurking in a friends wood-burning pile and saw the potential to make some great, hard wearing chopping boards.
The solid wood came from a Quercus subur (English Oak)
The metal handles and edges came from a commercial potato harvester given to Nige by a friend of his that uses his allotment purely to grow potatoes in! (A bit of a waste of a good allotment if you ask me!)
The potato harvester was destined for scrap so Nige took the tines to use the metal where needed i.e. to finish the rough edges and to craft the handles.
We all know how slippery chopping boards are to hold when covered in juice and chopped vegetables; handles help to make the heavy chopping board easier to empty into a pan or dish’
Once completed, the boards are covered in vegan food-safe wax to both seal and protect them.
